JACQUI SANDLAND

Jacqui’s passion for high performance is reflected through her work as a psychologist. Following a Nationally competitive career in both equestrian (eventing) and snowboarding (snowboard cross racing on the North American circuit), Jacqui became fascinated in the mental side of performance. Her open and flexible consulting style enables her to work in a variety of settings. Sport is her passion and her previous experience as a competitor and coach gives her lived experience and understanding of being on the front line in a performance setting. Jacqui also works alongside coaches to support them to support their athletes (and themselves).

Jacqui is currently the Performance and Wellbeing Psychologist for the Elite AFL Umpiring group across the Nation. She is also the Performance Pathways Psychologist at Athletics Australia and supports the 2024 SANFL U18 Boys State Team. Jacqui has previously worked as the Mental Health and Wellbeing National Lead for the AFLW and for the Australian Cycling Team, supporting the Para group in their Tokyo Paralympic campaign. Jacqui works amongst a variety of other sports, such as equestrian, surfing, football, ultra-marathon running and more. Jacqui provides psychological support to members of the AFL Players Association, Australian Cricket Association and Professional Footballers Australia.

Jacqui has conducted research into fear and anxiety in high performance environments as well as the importance of the partnership between horse and rider in competitive situations. She has a particular interest in sports that contain an element of risk.

Jacqui regularly facilitates group workshops for teams and sporting organisations. Please contact us if you would like Jacqui to come to your organisation.
