SIMON PEARSON

Simon brings a broad range of professional and life experience to practising as a psychologist. Simon’s interest in psychology stemmed from a young athlete who became aware of the importance in finding meaning and purpose in life, with Simon completing his first degree in physiotherapy whilst he pursued his passion for competitive road cycling. Simon rode for South Australia’s first professional road cycling team, Savings and Loans.

Simon has worked as a physiotherapist for 10 years both in Australia and overseas. Over this time Simon’s philosophy to helping people has become more aware of the overlap and strong connection between the mind and body. Simon’s skill-set as both a psychologist and a physiotherapist allows him to understand a problem from a holistic perspective and provide a varied range of solutions to help.

Simon has conducted research into the psychological factors associated with hamstring injuries in the AFL, in addition to completing a systematic review of self-compassion in competitive sport. Simon has also worked with a large organisation of over 200 people to help them manage the transition of acquiring another business.

Simon’s current passion in psychology lies in prioritising and cultivating mental health in sporting teams, with the belief that this will lead to motivated, happy and successful athletes.
